Google recently announced a new update for Google Maps Embed API. So, with effect from July 22nd 2016, Embed Maps will not work without an API Key. So each site owners need to create a new API key to make it work again. Here are the steps to do that.

Step 1 : Get your API Key

Get your API key by following this steps on this page: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key

Click the “Get a Key” button which will take you to another page. Where you should create a new project with your Website Name & URL. In the next page, Choose API key for “Web Browser” and click the button. Now you can see the API key. Copy that in to your clipboard.

Step 2 : Add the API key to the HTML File

Open the HTML page which contains the Google Map (eg: contact.html). No Find the following line of code (at very bottom of the page).

<script src="https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script>

Change that line as seen below.

<script src="https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?key=YOUR_KEY"></script>

PS: Replace the YOUR_KEY with the actual API key you’ve obtained from Google.

Step 3 : Done

Save and upload to your server to see the changes.
